The Sydney Harbour Bridge silhouettes behind every photograph, and lunaparksydney.com carries the current entry and ride-pass details. About Luna Park Sydney
Luna Park Sydney opened on 4 October 1935, in the years between the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s construction and World War II. The site has had a complicated history — closed multiple times after fires, redevelopment proposals, and most recently from January to October 2021. That 2021 redevelopment introduced nine new rides under a AU$30M investment, including the spectacular Big Dipper (Australia’s first single-rail Intamin Hot Racer roller coaster), which opened on 26 December 2021.
The park is heritage-listed: the iconic clown-face entrance, the Crystal Palace, the Coney Island fun house and the Big Top concert venue are all protected.

What’s the best ride at Luna Park Sydney?
The Big Dipper, Australia’s first single-rail Intamin Hot Racer roller coaster, is the headline thrill ride — 72 km/h and 25 metres tall. The heritage Big Wheel is the most photographed ride for harbour views.
Can I visit Luna Park Sydney for free?
Yes. Entry to the park grounds is free — you can walk through the iconic clown-face entrance, see the rides operating, photograph the heritage Crystal Palace and the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the lawns. You only pay for an Unlimited Rides Pass if you want to actually ride.
What time does Luna Park Sydney open?

How long do you need at Luna Park Sydney?
Most families spend 4–5 hours. Allow 1.5 hours for queues on busy days, especially for the Big Dipper. The park is small enough that you can ride every attraction in 4 hours if it’s quiet. The Annual Pass is excellent value if you live in Sydney and might visit twice in the year.
Is Luna Park Sydney good for kids?
